You can watch me color this nonsense here, obviously sped up:[link]
Yes, my younger cousin Gene requested this. Gene’s probably the coolest cousin I have. Growing up for a while with nothing but a sister and a bunch of girl cousins, it was hard finding people to play with that had the same interests, and I was so happy when Gene was born as I wasn’t the only boy in the family anymore. Well, in 1992, I introduced Gene to Mega Man 2 on NES. Gene was only 5 years old at the time…and he BEAT it! Gene became a fan of Mega Man almost instantly. He played that game left and right, and to this day, I believe he can tell you the ins and outs of every Mega Man game ever made, even the X and Legends series. He’s also a pretty good gamer, playing through some of the hardest games to date like he feels joy from the torture they bring. I think he said once that’s what makes him better…the harder the game, the harder he has to work to be the best. Me on the other hand, I like my games simple and straight forward. I’ll play hard games, but after a while, I usually have to wait till I see Gene again, or any of my friends that are waaaaay better than me.
After finishing my Bubble Man picture, Gene requested that I do a picture of Proto Man about to destroy his brother in a fight to the finish. I figured a fight in a factory somewhere with Proto Man tearing into Mega Man’s chest to rip out his “heart” was appropriate. As usual, the background took the most time to do, and posing the characters, which still aren’t perfect, but Gene loved it and that’s all that mattered to me.
